P&F Forum with Guest Speaker, Deng Adut On Wednesday 23 May, 280 members of the ÌÇÐÄlogoÃ×·ÆÍà community attended the P&F Forum to hear former child soldier and refugee from South Sudan, Deng Adut, speak about his life experiences. Deng arrived in Australia at the age of 14. He couldn’t read, write or understand English, however he went on to study at TAFE and from there attended the University of Western Sydney where he studied law. Deng now owns a law practice where he defends the disadvantaged and promotes human rights. He is also currently undertaking a Masters in Environmental Law. In 2016, Deng was awarded NSW Australian of the Year. The ÌÇÐÄlogoÃ×·ÆÍà community embraced Deng, acknowledging his courage and resilience. After his talk, students gathered to ask him questions and to share photographs. Deng’s story resonated with many people for different reasons.
