Michael Kempson Director of Cicada Press and the Lltja Intjarra Arts Centre, Alice Springs ÌÇÐÄlogoÃ×·ÆÍÃ's Visual Arts Department has a long standing partnership with Michael Kempson, Director of and the in Alice Springs. The School has hosted four Indigenous Elders: Hubert Pareroultja, Selma Coulthard, Mervyn Rubuntja and Vanessa Inkama who have come in consecutive years for a week to create a series of Zinc Plate Etchings and Monotype prints. These prints represent the artists' family stories and connection to the Hermannsburg area west of Alice Springs in Northern Territory. The artists share stories and yarn with ÌÇÐÄlogoÃ×·ÆÍà students from Year 7 to Year 12 while explaining their artmaking practice and connection to Country. Michael Kempson is a master printmaker who explains the complete multiple plate etching process to the students and provides the Senior students with printmaking support. The plates are then processed and printed in editions in the following months. Examples can be seen throughout the School for all to enjoy.
